Dependent Care Travel Awards for Tenure-Track Assistant Professors |
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
April 21, 2008
Qualifying Tenure-Track Assistant Professors are invited to apply for an ADVANCE Dependent Care Travel Award. Funded through a Elsevier Foundation award and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Michael Gottfredson, these one-time only awards are designed to subsidize childcare costs associated with travel to a professional conference or meeting. Awards are available for use from July 1, 2008 through December 10, 2008. The deadline for completing the on-line application and associated survey is May 9, 2008.
Award
The maximum amount available for each award is $1000.00. An award may be used for after hours care at an alternate location, or travel expenses related to child and care-giver or other related expenses. Funding for this type of award is considered taxable by the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board.
Eligibility
Main campus Tenure-Track Assistant Professors who are parents of a child twenty-four months or younger (at time of application), and are at least 50% Primary Care Giver.
Application Requirements
Completion of the on-line application and associated survey. A complete application includes evidence of professional conference or meeting participation and a budget.

Review and Selection Process
The UCI ADVANCE Program Advising Committee (APAC) will review, evaluate and recommend recipients to the ADVANCE director.
Report of award use
One month after the close of the award period each award recipient is required to submit a report to the ADVANCE Program Office, 535D Aldrich Hall, ZC: 1000, indicating how the award was used and how it contributed toward the individual's advancement to tenure.
