Please join the UC Irvine ADVANCE Program as we welcome UC Irvine's distinguished alumna and guest lecturer, Dr. Kathie Olsen, who will deliver a presentation focusing on the role of women in science.
Dr. Olsen received her B.S. in Biology and Psychology with honors from Chatham College, Pittsburgh, and went on to obtain her doctoral degree in Neuroscience from
UC Irvine's School of Biological Sciences.
She was a postdoctoral fellow in Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School; an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at SUNY-Stony Brook Medical School, and Research Scientist at Long Island Research Institute.
Her professional background includes:
- Senior Staff Associate, National Science Foundation (NSF),
Science and Technology Centers, Office of Integrative Activities
- Chief Scientist, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
- Associate Director, Office of Science and Technology Policy
