Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate Gathering
AGEP, or the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate, is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program designed to develop and implement programming intended to increase the number of domestic students – U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents - pursuing doctoral degrees in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, with special emphasis on those population groups underrepresented in these fields. The goal is ultimately to increase the number of minorities in these disciplines in the professoriate. The AGEP sponsored event is a great opportunity to meet peers in STEM doctoral programs. It will also be an opportunity to join a discussion about programming that aims at recruiting and mentoring minority students as they pursue their plans for doctoral studies, as well as strategies for supporting those who choose to go on to the professoriate.
